Format & scoring (start here)

The TOEFL iBT is about 2 hours, all on a computer. Each section — Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing — is scored 0–30, for a total of 120. Most universities ask for 80–100.

Key insight: Speaking and Writing include integrated tasks where you read/listen first, then respond. Success is less about opinion and more about accurately reporting what you heard.
Start every integrated speaking answer with clear signposting: "The reading states ___. The lecture, however, ___."
